The Springfield Carriage Company (SCC) is pleased to announce its opening at 724 East Edwards, at the South end of the Lincoln neighborhood. The SCC is a combination horse-drawn visitor transportation service, café, coffee shop, and meeting room facility.
Take a step back in time and visit our lovingly restored circa 1840's building that was once the home of a teamster/farmer when Lincoln walked these streets. We invite you to come and enjoy your favorite coffee, latte, cappuccino, espresso, or hot chocolate drink as well as many seasonal specials. Browse our gift shop for items relating to the great President Lincoln and the Civil War. Or you can just lounge and catch up on the office work with our free wireless internet service. And NOW OPEN, the Chuckwagon Cafe, where you can grab a sandwich, salad, or dessert!
Our building also hosts the main terminal for the 12-passenger wagonette carriage drawn by a beautiful Percheron draft horse. This carriage will link the passenger to the Abraham Lincoln Home site, the Lincoln-Douglas Law Office, the Old State Capitol Building, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and the highly acclaimed Lincoln Presidential Museum. Following these stops, the carriage will continue to the current State Capitol Building and then on to the Susan Dana Lawrence (Dana-Thomas) House which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Passengers can get on and off the carriage at many stops to enjoy shopping and dining experiences in the downtown area.
